Living Conscience
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially
Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, and prayers and
greetings upon our Noble prophet Muhammad (SAW) his family, his companions and
those following his guide till the of Taghabun.
The ways that we as Muslims can
serve our faith are too numerous to count. If each one of us only tries to
count the ways that he or she can personally serve Islam, the possibilities
will still be endless.
Each of us must take into account
his individual abilities as well as his inclinations and his personality in
deciding what he should do. Nevertheless, there are some general guidelines
that apply to everyone and some contributions that we can all start making
immediately.
To begin with, we can try to set a
good example for others. We can do this in our worship, in our dealings with
others, and in our moral conduct. We can strive to always be considerate and
just. We can give priority to the rights of others even if it means doing so at
the expense of our own. This is the starting point of all of our service and
indeed it is the most critical.
The Prophet of Allah Muhammad (SAW)
said: “He who have a full belly and his neighbour goes to sleep in an empty
belly and knows about it and did nothing; he is not one of us” Sahih Hadeeth.
If you have a living conscience you
can now define what Sin is and what Righteousness is? I said before that
worship is not a goal because that is why Allah created us rather it is a means
to End.
Salat is to make you become a
better person, Zakat is to eliminate poverty in the society, Ramadan is to make
you more purified and Hajj is to make you experience unity among Muslims.
Shaykh Ibn Abayaomi (RH) said
"Allah is not moved or Impressed with our worship until our Hearts are
moved and impressed HIM".
Maasha
Allah, it is true that taking knowledge from a Good Teacher is Vital in a
Student life. May Allah Preserve Shaykh Ibn
Abayaomi and bless his family.
He Ibn Abayaomi (RH) also said, as
part of communal support “a man will live in this world and will die doing
nothing and no one will remember his existence even his own Family and a man
would live and leave behind his own story to become his-story (history) for
others and every man that knows him will want to emulate one of his good deeds
or words”
Allah says, addressing the Prophet
(SAW): “And admonish your nearest kinsmen.” [Surah al-Shu`ara: 214]
After this verse was revealed, the
Prophet (SAW) gathered his kinfolk together and said: “O assembly of Quraysh!
Purchase your own souls, for I can avail you naught with Allah. O Banu `Abd
Manaf! I can avail you naught with Allah! O Safiyyah, aunt of Allah’s Messenger!
I can avail you naught with Allah! O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad! I can avail
you naught with Allah. Ask me of my wealth what you wish, but I can avail you
naught with Allah!”
Religion depends upon faith and
will, and these would be meaningless if induced by force; truth and error have
been so clearly shown up by the mercy of Allah that there should be no doubt in
the minds of any persons of goodwill as to the fundamentals of faith; Allah's
protection is continuous and His Plan is always to lead us from the depths of
darkness into the clearest light.
Shakh Ibn Abayaomi (RH) inspired us
one day and made us to understand that, to strive for the cause of Allah, to worship
Him accordingly; is not a call for people who are qualified. Allah Calls only
people who are willing and HE qualifies them.” May Allah continue to bless him
and reward him with the best of Paradise. Ameen.
So Brothers and Sisters! Do more
good deeds perhaps that will make you earn Allah’s pleasure and forgiveness
from your wrongdoings.
Being kind to those who are kind to
you is nothing, being good to the one who’s good to you is absolutely nothing
either. Real compassionate is shown when it is least expected and that is what Muhammad
(SAW) thought us.
We must also attend to our
neighbors and the communities in which we live. Our neighbors have rights over
us simply by virtue of their being our neighbors. We must honor those rights.
We should cultivate goodwill between ourselves and those who live in our
neighborhood. This makes it easier for us to reach out to them in matters of
faith.
Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said:
"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his neighbor.”
The Prophet of Allah (SAW) took
great pains in defining the neighbor’s rights. He said: “If he falls ill, visit
him. If he has good fortune, congratulate him. If ill fortune befalls him,
console him. Do not build your building in a way that would keep the breeze
from reaching his dwelling except with his permission. Do not annoy him with
the aroma of your cooking pot unless you serve him some of your food. If you buy
some fruit, give him a gift from it, and if you do not do so, then bring it
into your home discreetly/ inconspicuously,
and do not let your child take it outside to taunt his child with it.”
The right information given here is
from Allah’s guide; if wrong found, it is from me. I ask Allah Almighty to
protect us from errors and from all that displeases Him.
I conclude by praising Allah "Alhamdulillahi
rabbil-alameen" - Praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. So let us
make use of Ramadan to seek for enough of forgiveness from Allah and maximize
our efforts.
Allahumma infa`ni bima `allamtani
wa `allamni ma yanfa`uni! (OH ALLAH!
Make useful for me what You taught me and teach me knowledge that will be
useful to me).
May Allah continue to Guide and
Guard us aright. Amin.
Wa Salaamu Alaykum Waramotullahi
