WHAT DO YOU HOPE FOR IN THE NEXT ABODE…JANNAT OR JAHANAM? Part 5
The Day of Resurrection for the Rejecter of Faith: Part 5
B i s m i l l a h i R a h m a n i R o h e e m
All praise is due to Allah, May peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, sallah Allah alaihi wa salaam, his household and companions.
Allah forgives whom He wishes and Punish whom He wishes. It is by His Might we have lived to witness this moment and we ask Him with His Mightiness to continue to shower His Blessings upon our Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) his household, his wives, his companions and those who follow his footsteps and teaches it, till the Day of Accountability. Ameen
Allah so much Love the world; that He Sent down Hundreds of Prophets and Made Muhammad (SAW), the Seal and end to Prophethood.Allah Sent down four prominent Holy Books and Made the Qur’an the Noblest and Model to them all.
He Creates Human beings and Gives them Authority over other creatures. He Gives us Islam as a way of Life to prevail over other Man-made religion and he who follows Islam shall prosper and be saved on the Day of Judgement.
Allah is the Creator that does not have any creator of HIMSELF; Allah Created every things in pairs including the creation of Shaytan (May the Wrath of Allah Be Upon him) that mis-lead and He created the prophets that lead to the Right cause (May Allah Be Pleased with them all). The Light of Allah, all attributes of Allah exist before man was created; Allah Has knowledge of all things and Has power over every thing.
“Do you not know that Allah knows what is in the heaven and earth? Indeed, that is in a Record. Indeed that, for Allah, is easy”. Q22:70
In the last Part, I told us that, the Greatest thing Allah Has done for man is that; He Gives us intellect; thought and freewill but as a Test. He who makes use of them shall prosper in this world and in the hereafter. You should make difference between certain things and by so doing; you can make a way out in getting closer to know how well to prepare for the next Abode.
Revelation leads mankind from the depths of darkness into light. It comes to every age and nation in its own Language. So was it before; so it is always. The Prophets were doubted, Insulted, threatened, and persecuted, but their trust was sure in Allah.
It is Evil that will be wiped out, Allah's Truth is goodly tree, firmly established on its roots, stretching its branches high and wide, and bearing good fruit at all times.
It is insisted on that every Prophet speaks not from himself but from Allah. His leading into the light is but by the grace and mercy of Allah, not by any power of his own, or by any merit of those who hear him.
If the object of a Message is to make things clear, it must be delivered in the language current among the people to whom the Messenger is sent. Through them it can reach all mankind.
But the evil not only choose evil for themselves but mislead others to perdition. The godly should learn from the Signs of Allah all around them, and be on their guard against all that is false. So Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) prayed not only for his posterity, but for all; for he foresaw the universality of Allah's Message in Islam that leads to the sublime doctrine of Oneness, which will be seen in its fullness on the Great Day when a new Earth and a new Heaven Will proclaim the end of Evil and the adjustment of all this life's accounts.
Allah Says:
“Think not that Allah doth not heed the deeds of those who do wrong. He but giveth them respite against a Day when the eyes will fixedly stare in horror”. Q14:42.
A picture of horror. The evil ones, when they realise the situation, will be dazed; their eyes will stare without expression, and never move back; their necks will be outstretched; their heads uplifted in terror of the Judgment from the Most High; and their hearts become empty of all hope or intelligence as the physical heart might become empty of blood when the circulation stops. In this state they will press forward to Judgment.
A great terror will befall the resurrected on the mighty Day of Resurrection and the unbeliever is resurrected from his ‘grave’ as described by Allah:
“The Day whereon they will issue from their sepulchers in sudden hast as if they were rushing to a goal-post (fixed for them), their eyes lowered in dejection, ignominy covering them (all over)! Such is the Day which they are promised!” Q70:43-44
Now there will be a definite Goal-post or Banner or Standard of Truth fixed, which all must acknowledge. But they will acknowledge it in shame and dejection. For the time for their repentance and amendment will then have passed.
The heart will be trembling, confused about what evil retribution lies in store for it, the dust on the faces of the sinners will be in contrast to the beaming light on the faces of the righteous; and the blackness in contrast to the "laughing, rejoicing" faces of the righteous.
But the dust also suggests that being Rejecters of Allah, their faces and eyes and faculties were choked in dust, and the blackness suggests that being Doers of Iniquity they had no part or lot in Purity or Light. Another contrast may possibly be deduced: the humble and lowly may be "in the dust" in this life and the arrogant sinners in sunshine, but the roles will be reversed at Judgment.
Quran says:
“And other faces that Day will be dust-stained; Blackness will cover them, such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the Doers of Iniquity.” Q80:40-42.
The disbelievers will be gathered as they were born; naked and uncircumcised upon a great plain, driven on his faces, blind, deaf, and mute.
Allah Says:
“It is he whom Allah guides, that is on true guidance; but he whom He leaves astray for such wilt thou find no protector besides Him. On the Day of Judgment We shall gather them together, prone on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf; their abode will be Hell, every time it shows abatement, We shall increase for them the fierceness of the Fire.” Q17:97.
All your insincere subtleties are of no use. The only real guidance is the guidance of Allah. If you do not seek His grace, you will be lost. Besides Him, there is no true friend or protector'.
If you still persist in your evil ways, what is to be your evil end? You will become more and more identified with the Company of Evil. You will come to shame and ignominy, like men thrown down prone on their faces. You will lose the use of all the faculties of judgment with which Allah has endowed you.
Instead of seeing, you will be blind to Allah's Signs. Instead of having the power of seeking Him in prayer and rejoicing in His grace, you will be dumb. Instead of hearing the harmony and music of the spheres, as typified in the pure and harmonious lives of men, you will hear nothing or only hear dull or confused sounds like deaf men. The scorching fire of your punishment will not grow less, but grow more fierce as you go deeper into Hell'.
"But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." Q20:124.
The consequences of the rejection of Allah's guidance are here expressed more individually: a life narrowed down, and a blindness that will persist beyond this life.
"A life narrowed down" has many implications; it is a life from which all the beneficent influences of Allah's wide world are excluded; in looking exclusively to the "good things" of this life, it misses the true Reality.
Three times they will “meet” Allah. The first time they will attempt to defend themselves in futile argument against Allah Almighty, saying things such as: “The prophets did not come to us!” Even though Allah revealed in His Book:
“…And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.” Q 17:15
“…Lest you say: ‘There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no Warner….’” Q 5:19
The second time, they will present their excuses while acknowledging their guilt. Even the devils will try to excuse themselves from their crimes of leading men astray:
“His (man’s) personal demon will say: ‘Our Lord! I did not push him to transgress. Rather, he was himself in error, far astray.’” Q 50:27.
But Allah, Most High and Just, will not be fooled. He will say:
“Dispute not in front of me. I have already advanced before you the threat. The sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed. And I am not unjust (in the least) to the slaves.” Q 50:28-29.
The third time the wicked soul will meet its Maker to receive its Book of Deeds, a record omitting nothing.
“And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say: ‘Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?’ And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does not do injustice to anyone.” Q 18:49
Upon receiving their records, the wicked ones will be rebuked in front of the whole of mankind.
“And they will be presented before your Lord in rows, (and He will say), ‘You have certainly come to Us, just as We created you the first time.’ But you claimed that We would never have an appointment!” Q 18:48
The Prophet Muhammad said: “These are the ones who did not believe in Allah!” And it is these whom God will question regarding the blessings they took for granted. Each one will be asked: ‘Did you think We would meet?’ And as each one will answer:
‘No!’ Allah will tell him: ‘I will forget about you as you forgot Me!’ Then, as the disbeliever will attempt to lie his way out, Allah will seal his mouth, and his body parts instead will testify against him.
“That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.” Q 36:65.
Besides his own sins, the disbeliever will also bear the sins of those he misled.
“And when it is said to them: ‘What has your Lord sent down?’ They say: ‘Legends of the former peoples,’ that they may bear their own burdens (i.e., sins) in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.” Q 16:24-25.
The psychological pain of deprivation, loneliness and abandonment will all to the physical torture.
“…and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.” Q 3:77.
While the Prophet Muhammad will intercede on behalf of all believers, no intercessor will the disbeliever find; he who worshiped false deities besides the One, True God.
“…And the wrongdoers will not have any protector or helper.” Q 42:8
Their saints and spiritual advisors will dissociate themselves, and the disbeliever would wish he could come back to this life and do the same to those who now disown them:
“(And they should consider that) when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed (them), and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship]. Those who followed will say, ‘If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us.’ Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire.”Q 2:167
The sorrow of the sin-ridden soul will be so intense that he will actually pray: ‘O Allah, have mercy on me and put me in the Fire.’ He will be asked: ‘Do you wish you had a whole earth-full of gold so you could pay it to set yourself free?’ To which he will answer: ‘Yes.’ Whereupon he will be told: ‘You were asked for something much easier than that worship Allah alone.
“And they were not commanded except that they should worship Allah (alone), being sincere to the upright religion (of Islam)….” Q 98:5
“But the disbelievers – their deeds are like a mirage in lowland which a thirsty one thinks is water until, when he comes to it, he finds it is nothing, but he finds Allah before Him, Who will pay him in full his due; and Allah is swift in account.” Q 24:39.
“And We shall turn to what deeds they have done, and We shall make them as dust dispersed.”Q 25:23.
The disbelieving soul will then be handed in his left hand and from behind his back, his written record which was kept by angels who noted his every deed in his earthly life.
“But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: ‘Oh, I wish I had not been given my record, and had not known what my account is.’” Q 69:25-26.
“But as for he who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for his destruction.” Q 84:10-11.
Finally, he will be made to enter Hell:
“And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say: ‘Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?’ They will say: ‘Yes, but the word (i.e., decree) of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers.’” Q 39:71.
The first to enter Hell will be the pagans, followed by those Jews and Christians who corrupted the true religion of their Prophets. Some will be driven to Hell; others will fall in it, snatched by hooks. At that point, the disbeliever will wish that he had could have been turned into dust, rather than reap the bitter fruits of his evil works.
“Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say: ‘Oh, I wish that I were dust!’” Q 78:40.
Is Judgment very near? Yes. There are three stages of Judgment.
1. Many of our sins and wrong-doings find their penalty in this very life. It may not be an open or striking event, but it corrodes the soul and conscience all the time. Let us therefore turn back to Allah in repentance and ask for forgiveness.
2. Where the Penalty is not actually perceived or is not visible in this life, Death is considered the Lesser Judgment for each individual soul. Death may come to anyone at any time, and we must all be ready for it.
3. Then there is the final Judgment, when the whole of the present order passes away, and there is a New World. Time as we know it will not exist. Fifty thousand years as we reckon now will be but as a Day. According to those standards even this Final Judgment is quite near, and we must prepare for it. For it will be too late then for repentance.
The Unbeliever, the Rejecter of Allah, will then find himself in a world of absolute Reality, in which there will be no place for him. He will neither live nor die. He will wish that he could be reduced to nothingness, but even that would not be possible.
Alahumma infa`ni bima `allamtani wa `allamni ma yanfa`uni! (OH ALLAH! Make useful for me what You taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me!
O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for all my sins.
I ask You to forgive me for all my wrongdoings [mazalim] against people that You have recorded, for there are many rights [huquq] and dues [mazalim] owed to Your servants that I am burdened with and for which I am hostage [murtahin]. O Allah, even if these (wrongdoings) are many they are insignificant in comparison with the magnitude of Your forgiveness. O Allah, any male or female servant of Yours who has rights upon me, in either that I have unjustly taken from him [ghasabtu] in regards to his land, possession, honor, body; whether he was absent or present; or he or his representatives demanded it from me and neither was I able to return it to him nor did I seek release of it from him. So I ask You through Your benevolence, generosity, and abundance of what You possess that You satisfy them on my behalf, and not give them a position over me that will decrease my good deeds; for You possess what You can satisfy them with on my behalf and I do not possess what to satisfy them with; and do not allow for their bad deeds to find a path over my good deeds on the Day of Judgment.
May Allah bless us to serve Him in all aspects of our lives.
Wa Salaam Alaikum Waramotullahi Wabarakatuhu.
