Grievous Sins in disguise

Bismillahi Rahman Roheem.

All form of Praises is due for Allah. We adore Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We have Faith and Trust in Him. We seek Allah’s refuge against evil tendencies of our Soul and our bad deeds.

He whom Allah guides no one can lead him astray. And he whom Allah lets go astray there is none to guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, the One and without any Partner; and I also bear witness that Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and Messenger. Allah had sent him with Truth, to give good tidings and to warn before the Doomsday. Whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be successful and well guided.

And whosoever disobeys either of them has gone astray. Such a person harms none save himself; he does no harm to Allah. The best Word is the Book of Allah. And the best Guidance is that given by Muhammad (SAW). Good things are the firm (original) ones, and Bad things are those introduced later on. And everything introduced later (in religion) is innovation. And every innovation is Hell fire.

To become a true Muslim it necessary to have complete faith in Muhammad (SAW) and to affirm that he is Allah last and true messenger; his teachings are absolutely perfect free from any defect or error; and He is the last among the prophets of Allah, after no Prophet will be sent by Allah to mankind till the Day of Accountability and any personage that appear among people is definitely an impostor.

Today’s vogue has shown some trends in our women folks which are grievous sin subliminally have spread widely among Muslim women as well and indeed against the teachings of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) everything you do as a form of Ibadah is Haram until there is proof for it, which make it Halal and everything you do regarding mua'malat (social actions, way of life) are Halal until proven Haram. So we need to be careful to call Halal a Haram vice versa.

In one of the Hadith it is said: “what is Halal is clear and what is Haram is clear and between Halal and Haram there are vague issues/matters and giving judgement when you are in doubt its itself Haram.

This take us to a principle in Fiqh that somethings what we do is technically right but ethically wrong and what is ethically wrong can cause nothing but Fitna. Some trends among our women folks today are specifically mentioned in numerous Ahadith but to quote few here:

On Tattoo, Removal of face hair, creating space between teeth, hair lengthening, and usage of Gold without caution:

Narrated Ibn 'Umar : I heard the Prophet saying, (or the Prophet said), "Allah has cursed the lady who practices tattooing and that who gets it done for herself, and also the lady who lengthens hair artificially and that who gets her hair lengthened artificially." The Prophet has cursed such ladies. Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 72 :: Hadith 825.

Narrated 'Abdullah: Allah has cursed those women who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those who remove their face hairs, and those who create a space between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, and such women as change the features created by Allah. Why then should I not curse those whom the Prophet has cursed? And that is in Allah's Book. i.e. His Saying: 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (Q59:7). Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 72 :: Hadith 815.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar : The Prophet has cursed the lady who lengthens her hair artificially and the one who gets her hair lengthened, and also the lady who tattoos (herself or others) and the one who gets herself tattooed. Bukhari :: Book 7:: Volume 72 :: Hadith 823.

Narrated Ibn Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah has cursed such a lady as lengthens (her or someone else's) hair artificially or gets it lengthened, and also a lady who tattoos (herself or someone else) or gets herself tattooed. Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 72 :: Hadith 820.

Narrated Alqama: 'Abdullah (bin Masud) said. "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation." His saying reached a lady from Bani Asd called Um Yaqub who came (to Abdullah) and said, "I have come to know that you have cursed such-and-such (ladies)?" He replied, "Why should I not curse these whom Allah's Apostle has cursed and who are (cursed) in Allah's Book!" Um Yaqub said, "I have read the whole Quran, but I did not find in it what you say." He said, "Verily, if you have read it (i.e. the Quran), you have found it. Didn't you read?
'And whatsoever the Apostle gives you take it and whatsoever he forbids you, you abstain (from it)’. (Q59:7)  She replied, "Yes, I did," He said, "Verily, Allah's Apostle forbade such things." "She said, "But I see your wife doing these things?" He said, "Go and watch her." She went and watched her but could not see anything in support of her statement. On that he said, "If my wife was as you thought, I would not keep her in my company." Bukhari :: Book 6 :: Volume 60 :: Hadith 408.

Here is an example of those who makes excuses because of their desires that perhaps the wife of Imam of our Masjid also do this and that, so I can do it. Some loves what they are doing so much that they hate to hear that it is unlawful to Muslims because that is what the society are doing and to them to feel among they have to do it.

Another Ahadith here show these trends are serious sins in disguise:

'Abdullah reported that Allah had cursed those women who tattooed and who have themselves tattooed, those who pluck hair from their faces and those who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created. This news reached a woman of the tribe of Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub and she used to recite the Holy Qur'an. She came to him and said: What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattooed and those women who have themselves tattooed, the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created? Thereupon 'Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Allah's Messenger (May peace be upon him) has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Qur'an from cover to cover, but I did not find that in it. Whereupon he said: If you had read (thoroughly) you would have definitely found this in that (as) Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has said:" What Allah's Messenger brings for you accept that and what he has forbidden you refrain from that." That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of 'Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything. Whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her, I would have never slept with her in the bed. Muslim:: Book 24 : Hadith 5301.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A woman who used to practice tattooing was brought to 'Umar. 'Umar got up and said, "I beseech you by Allah, which of you heard the Prophet saying something about tattooing?" l got up and said, "O chief of the Believers! I heard something." He said, "What did you hear?" I said, "I heard the Prophet (addressing the ladies), saying, 'Do not practice tattooing and do not get yourselves tattooed.'" Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 72 :: Hadith 830.

Narrated Abu Huraira : A woman who used to practice tattooing was brought to 'Umar. 'Umar got up and said, "I beseech you by Allah, which of you heard the Prophet saying something about tattooing?" l got up and said, "0 chief of the Believers! l heard something." Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 72 :: Hadith 830.

There is a common trend among new Muslims in Europe and Northern America, over there some sisters after wearing their Hijab let out their ears showing in other to show off what they put on theirs as jewelry and the following two Ahadith shows the warning:

Narrated Asma' daughter of Yazid: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Any woman who wears a gold necklace will have a similar one of fire put on her neck on the Day of Resurrection, and any woman who puts a gold earring in her ear will have a similar one of fire put in her ear on the Day of Resurrection. Dawud :: Book 34 : Hadith 4226.

The next Hadith explain this above Sayings very well:

Narrated A sister of Hudhayfah: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: You women folk have in silver something with which you adorn yourselves. I assure you that any woman of you who adorns herself with gold which she displays will be punished for it. Dawud :: Book 34 : Hadith 4225.

“Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded". (6:90)

Let us be Muslim and a model for others to follow and Insha Allah we will continue the articles of Faith.

I ask for Allah forgiveness upon you and me, May He gives us the strength to be firm on the path of Islam, if you find any mistake in this discussion indeed it’s from me and whatever therein that benefit you is definitely Allah’s guidance. May Allah continue to Guide and Guard us aright. Amin

Oh Allah! We implore your extended mercy that will forgive our sins and erase our misdeeds and errors. Oh Allah Forgive all our sins hidden and open, big and small.
