The Gleam of Faith

Bismillahi Rahman Roheem.

All Praise is for Allah. We adore Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We have Faith and Trust in Him. We seek Allah’s refuge against evil tendencies of our Soul and our bad deeds.

He whom Allah guides no one can lead him astray. And he whom Allah lets go astray there is none to guide him. We bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, the One and without any Partner; and we also bear witness that Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and Messenger. Allah had sent him with Truth, to give good tidings and to warn before the Doomsday. Whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be successful and well guided.

And whosoever disobeys either of them has gone astray. Such a person harms none save himself; he does no harm to Allah. The best Word is the Book of Allah. And the best Guidance is that given by Muhammad (SAW). Good things are the firm (original) ones, and Bad things are those introduced later on. And everything introduced later (in religion) is innovation. And every innovation is Hell fire.

I seek Allah’s refuge against Shaytan the outcast. I start in the name of Allah, most Gracious, and most Merciful.

After Ramadan what is left? That is the question perhaps we should be asking each other.

Are we Ramadan Muslim or a Muslim that will keep the spirit of Ramadan and live continuously with it as a way of life? Righteousness is exactly what is required of us as a believer; let us search our soul to discover where we belong. A seasonal Muslim or a better Muslim?

The easiest way to keep the spirit of Ramadan is from the next hadith of The Messenger of Allah (SAW):

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (R.A) narrated: Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: "Whoever fasts in Ramadan and six (days) of Shawwal, it will be (equivalent to) as if he/she fasted a whole year (in terms of rewards)." [Reported by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Ahmad, Ibn Majah]

In commenting on the above mentioned Hadith, As-Sananee said in Subul us-Salam:

"If the thirty days of Ramadan fasting are assimilated with the six days of fasting in Shawwal, it altogether makes 36 days. According to Shariah (Islamic law), each virtue is rewarded ten times. Therefore, if we multiply 36 days with 10, it makes 360, a number which equals the days of a year of Islamic calendar. Some scholars are of the opinion that these six days of fasting in Shawwal must be completed in a continuous order right after the end of Ramadan. Some believe that it is enough to merely complete six days of fasting in Shawwal (in any order, either successive or with intervals), an opinion which is deemed to be correct."

We all know that being virtuous is to be a Righteous person and the notion of calling a non-believer a virtuous person which mislead some Muslim thinking of marrying them is absolutely wrong.

Allah says in His book:

“Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth , in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives Zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.” Q2:177.

Indeed it is sad when you see around you how many Muslims behave and some of us are astonished with the way our Christian friend behaves which is quite worrisome to me and the fact remains that being Virtuous does not end with a good morality but true Virtuousness is one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives out of his wealth, in spite of his love for it to his relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask for help, and give out to ease someone burden like a slave; and who establishes prayer and gives Zakah; those who fulfill their promise when they promise; and those who are patient in poverty and hardship and during struggle between right and wrong. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) is reported to have said:

On the Authority of An-Nawwas Ibn Saman (R.A) the Prophet (SAW) said:

“Righteousness is good morality, and wrong doing is that which wavers in your Soul and which you dislike people finding out about” [Muslim].

Also on the Authority of Wabisa Ibn Ma’bad (R.A) who said:

I came to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and he said: You have come to ask about righteousness? I said yes. He said: “consult your heart. Righteousness is that about which the Soul feels tranquil and the heart feels tranquil; and wrongdoing is that which wavers in the Soul and moves to and fro in the breast even though people again and again have given you their legal opinion in its favour” [Muslim].

Well I will have to let us know that as Muslims there are five collections of the prophet (SAW) and if we live our life by these sayings, Insha Allah Jannah (Paradise) is sure for us.

1. “Actions are but by intention and every man shall have reward for that which he intended” [Bukhari and Muslim].
2. “Part of someone’s being a good Muslim is his leaving alone that which does not concern him” [Tirmidhi].
3. “Let him who believes in Allah and the last Day either speak good or keep silent, and let him who believes in Allah and the last Day be generous to his neighbor, and let him who believes in Allah and last Day be generous to his guest” [Bukhari and Muslim].
4. “None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother [all Muslim] what he wishes for himself” [Bukhari and Muslim].
5. “Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good one and it will wipe it out, and behave well to people” [Tirmidhi]

Allah Almighty is Good and love all that is good. Try to live a righteous life and do not follow the footstep of Shaytan because he is an open enemy to us.

Oh Allah! We implore your extended mercy that will forgive our sins and erase our misdeeds and errors. Oh Allah Forgive all our sins hidden and open, big and small. Oh Allah forgives all our dead love ones, our parents living and dead. Oh Allah preserve our teachers those that are dead and those that are living make them a great guide for us to Aljannah and not a distractor. Amin

Alahumma infa`ni bima `allamtani wa `allamni ma yanfa`uni!
(OH ALLAH! Make useful for me what You taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me!)

May Allah continue to Guide and Guard us aright. Amin

“Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded". (6:90) May Allah bless us to serve him in all aspects of our lives.

Wa Salaam Alaikum Waramotullahi Wabarakatuhu

Allahu Mustahan
